A collection of influential books gifted from the personal libraries of revered arts and cultural figures.
Chris Thorson is an artist with an interest in the ways utilitarian objects hold cultural significance and mark personal experience. Thorson remakes objects such as T-shirts, plastic bags or cigarette butts which allows her to test the boundaries between what is overlooked and what is esteemed.
Thorson’s works have been exhibited at Rena Bransten Gallery in SF, Southern Exposure in SF, and recent exhibitions in Upstate NY, NYC and at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, CA.
Born in Akron, Iowa, Thorson holds an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute, teaches at Oxbow School in Napa, CA and lives in Oakland, CA www.christhorson.net
